Charming Quail™ Jewelry Design was founded in Fort Collins, Colorado by Alex Reynolds in October of 2023. Alex launched the business out of a passion for designing custom jewelry — a passion that first blossomed while he was designing at Darvier Jewelry Design Studio. There, he fell in love with turning clients’ stories and preferences into beautifully crafted, meaningful rings and other fine jewelry.
Wedding sets were the bread and butter of his work at Darvier — each a reflection of a couple’s unique bond. Alex finds immense joy in designing something so deeply personal for people — a piece they will carry with them for a lifetime.
But as the story goes, COVID hit in 2020, and Alex made the difficult choice to step away from designing to be home with his two boys. This decision not only meant more time together as a family, but it also solved the challenge of navigating online school from home. Those years were a blessing — a chance for Alex to be there for his children — but after a few years, both boys started elementary school, freeing him up to pursue his passion once again.
Charming Quail™ Jewelry Design LLC was born soon after — initially under the name Reynolds Design and Innovation (a.k.a. ReynoldsDandI) — offering CAD jewelry design services to other stores and designers. This venture kept the business alive while Alex prepared to launch his own collections alongside custom services for his clients.
Alex was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama — a melting pot of the South — where he was raised to be a Southern gentleman with kindness, creativity, and authenticity at his core. Alex then made his way to Colorado to study Engineering at Colorado State University. After over a year of closing down the library every night wrestling with calculus — without much opportunity for creativity — Alex decided to pursue a path more in tune with his passions. This drew him toward Industrial Design, a discipline that combines artistry, functionality, and an understanding of human needs. Alex ultimately finished his degree in Marketing and then continued his education at Auburn University’s renowned Industrial Design program — adding a powerful blend of artistry, business expertise, and technical know-how to his repertoire.
Today, Alex brings that unique blend of creativity, compassion, and technical expertise to design custom fine jewelry that resonates with your most meaningful stories — whether for your wedding, anniversary, or simply a piece you want to celebrate your own style.
